Staff and Consultant Bios
Zobeida Bonilla
Zobeida received her doctoral degree in anthropology from the University of Florida and a MPH in maternal and child health from the Boston University School of Public Health. She has experience working with community health programs and coalitions addressing the health needs of the Latino population throughout the country. She developed the OBOS curriculum and training program for Latino immigrant women based on "Nuestros Cuerpos, Nuestras Vidas," coordinated outreach efforts to recruit and train Latinas to serve as lay health advisors in their communities, and prepared the culturally adapted Spanish language translation of "Journey to Parenthood" by Maternity Center Association (now Childbirth Connection).
Ayesha Chatterjee
Ayesha joins the OBOS staff from New Delhi, India. Prior to joining OBOS, Ayesha worked as a counselor and trainer on sexuality and reproductive and sexual rights with TARSHI (Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues) and The Modicare Foundation. Her experience includes evolving communication protocols, defining documentation standards, and using client information to drive research for helpline services. She has also developed modules and facilitator support materials for trainers working on adolescent health and sexuality in rural and urban communities, and served as a consultant to Care International in Tajikistan on a pilot violence-against-women project. She holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology.
Christine Cupaiuolo
Christine Cupaiuolo has been writing, editing and consulting for print and digital publications since 2000, following award-winning work as a newspaper reporter. She is the managing editor of the 2011 edition of "Our Bodies, Ourselves" and has covered women's health, politics and culture for Our Bodies, Our Blog since 2006.
Judy Norsigian
A co-founder of the BWHBC and co-author of all editions of "Our Bodies, Ourselves," Judy is a graduate of Radcliffe College and an internationally renowned speaker and writer on a wide range of women's health concerns. Her interests include national health care reform, tobacco and women, midwifery advocacy, reproductive health, genetic technologies, and contraceptive research. She has appeared on numerous television and radio programs including Oprah, Donahue, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. Longer bio for Judy. Photo.
Anne Sweeney
Anne is the Operations Manager at Our Bodies Ourselves. She has 11 years experience working for a California based learning materials company, where she used her skills to help source, design and test products to be used for early childhood education.
Rachel Walden
Rachel is a medical librarian, with a Masters of Library and Information Science, providing clinical evidence summaries to inform care at an academic medical center. She began writing the blog Women's Health News in 2005, covering policy, research, news, and online resources. Rachel has also written for and served on the editorial board of a medical librarianship journal, and previously worked in communications and tech support for a non-profit organization.
Sally Whelan
A co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves, Sally directs the organization’s Global Initiative, where her leadership and guidance has resulted in the development and in-country use of 17 cultural adaptations of "Our Bodies, Ourselves" around the world. In 2004, Sally received Public Citizen’s Public Interest Service Award, established to recognize ‘unsung heroes’ in the public interest movement.
Kiki Zeldes
Kiki has worked for OBOS since 1997, when she brought the organization into the digital age by compiling Internet resources for the 1998 edition of Our Bodies, Ourselves and creating the organization's first website. She is the senior editor for the 2011 edition of "Our Bodies, Ourselves" and part of the editorial team for the 2005 edition and for "Our Bodies, Ourselves: Menopause" and "Our Bodies Ourselves: Pregnancy and Birth." She also manages the OBOS website. |
