rBGH in Milk

Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) is a genetic modification of the natural growth hormone produced by cows. It is injected into cows to artificially increase their milk production.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the use of rBGH in 1993; however there is ongoing controversy over its safety, both for the cows and for the people who drink or eat the dairy products.
