Campaign in Support of Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is opening its newest (and largest) health center in Aurora, Ill., a conservative Chicago suburb. As you might imagine, anti-abortion activists aren't making it easy. A recent demonstration drew 1,200 protesters. And the city is looking into whether building permits were granted on fraudulent grounds.
The L.A. Times has a story on the controversy and protests.
The clinic, run by Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area, will provide a full range of services, including birth control, gynecological exams, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, abortions for women through the middle of their second trimester, and options counseling, including adoption referrals.
Illinois is ranked 46th in access to contraceptive services, according to Planned Parenthood, which has launched a new campaign in support of the clinic -- "What happens in Aurora happens to ME." Sign a petition here and Planned Parenthood will tie a ribbon with your name outside the Aurora center.

This is sort related, but with all this talk about socialized medicine in the US, I wonder what would happen with birth control under a govt plan. There are so many people in this country who are back-asswards about birth control.
